The Design
The quadcopter looks a whole lot like its predecessors in the Phantom line-up. It measures around 23 inches from each wingtip to the opposite one and comes in white colour.
DJI Phantom 3 Professional weighs a little less than three pounds and features four pylons, each of which has a rotor integrated. It has a camera mounted at the base and under each wing are LED lights that make it easy for you to keep track while it’s suspended in the air.
The drone’s remote control features a built-in clip for holding your smartphone or tablet to view aerial footage while being recorded. The remote has a power button, dual joysticks for flight control and dials for adjusting camera settings. It also features a micro USB-B port and a standard USB Type-A connector.
Image and Video Quality
With consumer drones used mainly for aerial photography, DJI Phantom 3 Professional looks ready to excel. It features a robust 4K camera for superb image-capturing capabilities.
The snapper has an f/2.8 aperture, nine-element lens with a 94-degree angle of view for less distortion while taking shots. The quadcopter can be used to record stunning 4K aerial videos in two aspect ratios – standard 16:9 (3840 x 2160 pixel) videos at 30 or 24 frames per second and wider 1.9:1 (4096 x 2160 pixel) videos at 24 frames per second.
You can also shoot HD (720p) and Full HD (1080p) videos at up to 60 fps. Videos can be saved in MP4 or MOV formats. Still images can be captured at an impressive resolution of up to 12 megapixels.
Miscellaneous Information
DJI Phantom 3 Professional has an integrated 3-axis gimbal which ensures that undesired motion such as vibration or wind buffeting is checked while in flight.
The drone features intelligent orientation control for more intuitive flying so that you never lose track of where to keep in front in situations where the quadcopter spins continuously.
The Inertia Measurement Unit (IMU) keeps tab on slightest change in acceleration, while flight stability is ensured by a GPS-based navigation system. The quadcopter is able to remember the exact spot it took off from for auto-landing, provided GPS is available.
One of the things you will love about the Phantom 3 Professional is that it boasts a flight simulator for flying practice before commencement of use.
The DJI Pilot app puts you in total control of the consumer drone. The app, which is available for both Android and iOS devices, lets users execute auto-takeoff with a tap.
It puts you in full control of the powerful 4K camera on the DJI Phantom 3 Professional. Using the app, you will be able to set parameters such as shutter speed, white balance, and camera tilt. You can edit videos and photos on your smartphone and share on social media platforms directly.
The Phantom 3 Professional comes with a 6000mAh Lithium-polymer battery for the transmitter, which has four LED lights for indicating charge status or remaining battery life.
