GoPro Hero6 is the latest flagship from action camera powerhouse GoPro deemed the best you can get on the market right now. The Hero5 successor comes with some interesting updates, including a more powerful processor, faster Wi-Fi, and higher video frame rates.
Design
You are going to have a hard time telling the difference between the GoPro Hero6 and Hero5. They are that identical. The dimensions of both are practically the same, meaning you can retain size-related accessories you may have for the earlier device. The action cam still boasts impressive waterproofing and is able to survive to the depth of 10 metres (about 33 feet) in water.
It still has a 2-inch touchscreen on the rear side. This may not seem new, but the colours are reportedly noticeably better. The responsiveness to touch seems to have improved as well.
Processor
A major selling point of the GoPro Hero6 is that it packs a new, customized processor that promises more improved performance. The GP1 processor enables the camera to do more than its predecessor. GoPro says this one delivers twice the performance of the Hero5.
The chip makes it possible to enjoy faster performance. This you will especially notice in the higher frame rates and resolutions that it supports.
Video Quality
Just like the Hero5, the GoPro Hero6 rocks a 12-megapixel sensors. It shoots videos of HD (720p) resolution up to 4K resolution. The main changes here are the frame rates of these videos. The action camera is able, for instance, to shoot Full HD videos at 240 fps and 4K at 60fps. This reduces blur in highly action-paced videos and promotes better slow-motion effects.
The GoPro camera supports 4K shooting at up to 30 fps in the native 4:3 aspect ratio, which gives taller images. It also promises better quality still images, boasting higher dynamic range that its predecessor.
Other Features
The GoPro Hero6 comes with a bevy of other interesting features. Quikstories, a feature that helps to automatically fine-tune raw images into quality finished videos, is faster. This is helped by a 5GHz Wi-Fi module that promises up to three times the connection speed of the Hero5.
You get a new Touch Zoom feature for more accurate zooming to work on videos. A 1,220mAh battery is still in charge of juice supply.
