The decision by Apple in 2014 to experiment with a massive display on its flagship device by introducing the iPhone 6 Plus appeared to have paid off very well; hence, the readiness to follow up with a second-generation behemoth in this new device boasting some upgrades. iPhone 6 is its more compact variant with a 4.7-inch Display.

The Design
The iPhone 6S Plus shows off the same aluminium unibody design with curved edges as its predecessor. The new phablet, however, uses a more robust, aviation-grade 7000 Series aluminium alloy to deal with the issue of bending some users identified in the older device.
An extra colour option of rose gold has been added to the three options – silver, gold and grey – of the earlier plus-size iPhone to offer users greater choices. The new Apple iPhone 6S Plus is marginally thicker than the iPhone 6 Plus at 7.3 millimetres and significantly bulkier at 192 grams.
It is also important to note that Apple will be retiring the gold models of the iPhone 6.
The Display
Apple has left the display size unchanged at 5.5 inches. The IPS LCD, Retina display has a Full HD resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch. The screen resolution isn’t ground-breaking but should deliver awesome viewing.
The display highlight of the iPhone 6S Plus, however, is its 3D Touch support. This feature, similar to the Force Touch on the Huawei Mate S and Apple Watch, enables the phablet to sense how hard you press on the screen to allow you start apps, switch between apps, and do several other tasks faster.
The Cameras
A long-overdue upgrade has been made in the camera department this year. Apple iPhone 6S Plus, like the iPhone 6S, now carries a 12-megapixel rear camera – a welcome departure from the 8-megapixel sensor that has been used since the iPhone 4S.
The impressive iSight camera can now shoot 4K videos at 30 fps. And compared to the iPhone 6 Plus which had a 1.2-megapixel selfie snapper, the new phablet packs a significantly improved 5-megapixel FaceTime camera with Retina Flash for breathtaking selfies.
There is a new Live Photo feature that creates a motion picture of the moments before and after a shot is taken.
The more recent iPhone 7 Plus offers dual 12 megapixels camera.
Processor and OS
iPhone 6S Plus is driven by a more powerful Apple A9 chip, which is said to be around 70 percent faster than the A8 chip of the iPhone 6 Plus. The chipset is equally touted to be about 90 percent more efficient at graphics processing tasks.
The most advanced Apple mobile operating system to date, the iOS 9, powers the new plus-size iPhone.
Other Features
Like its older cousin, the iPhone 6S Plus will be available in 16GB, 64GB and 128GB versions with no talk of storage expansion. It comes with a Touch ID fingerprint scanner said to be twice as fast as the one on the iPhone 6 Plus.
The 6S Plus also boasts faster wireless connectivity in forms of 4G LTE Advanced, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.2. Battery details are not yet available.
