Design and Screen
Motorola Moto X Play shows off a solid construction with slightly curved edges. At its thinnest point, it measures 8.9 millimetres. The phablet boasts a water-repellent design to keep your mind at rest when using it near water.
It parades a massive 5.5-inch display – slightly smaller than that of the Moto X Style – with Full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a pixel density of 403 ppi. The touchscreen is protected by strong Corning Gorilla Glass 3.
Camera and Storage
Like the higher-end Moto X Style, Motorola Moto X Play is impressively configured in the camera department. It packs a 21-megapixel rear shooter with dual LED flash for enhanced colours. The F2.0-aperture sensor has Quick Capture, drag to focus & exposure, Panorama and Auto HDR features, among others.
You also get a 5-megapixel, wide-angle selfie camera with flash. The phablet will come in two storage variants of 16 GB and 32 GB.
Processor and Other Features
The Moto X Play is fired up by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocked a 1.7 GHz – this compares well against the 1.8GHz, hexa-core Snapdragon 808 chip used for the Moto X Style. The processor receives support from RAM of 2GB capacity and an Adreno 405 GPU.
Like its new brother devices, Motorola Moto X Play runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop operating system, which could possibly be upgradeable to the upcoming Android M later in the year.
It is armed with a fast-charging 3,630mAh battery, which Motorola says can last up to 48 hours on a charge. At that rate, the battery significant betters that of the significantly more-expensive Samsung Galaxy S6.
It offers users access to super-fast LTE connectivity, just like Moto X Style. The Motorola Moto X Play phablet also features Bluetooth 4.0 LE and dual band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n.
