5 Ways to Improve your Mobile Gaming Experience

Best Freelancers to help you Grow your Business

For a gamer, nothing can beat PlayStation and Xbox. And if you are used to that, you probably do not even enjoy PC games anymore, let alone any other device. But here’s the thing. Games don’t all have to be high-end for you to have a few hours of fun.

Apple and Android now support plenty of fun high-definition games that are better than you think.

To add to that, there are a bunch of easy tweaks that can turn a regular mobile into your new favorite gaming device.

Improve your Internet Speed

This seems like a pretty obvious suggestion, right? But there is no way around it – this works the best. Here’s how you can do it:

  1. Reduce the number of connections in one network – Gaming uses a lot of data and the more devices you have on your network, the less you can use per device. Your internet service provider can only provide a good speed to certain extent. So while gaming, you can go to your router’s setup page and limit the number of connections to a minimum.
  2. Turn off background apps – If one or more of your apps use internet and keep running in the background, they will have the same effect on your gaming. This means there is less data for your game to use. So remember to turn off background apps.

Update System and Games

There is no practical reason to delay updates in any case. Without system updates, your device will soon begin to lag – this is valid for both high-end and budget mobiles. Most often, software update contain bug fixes that make your mobile work smoother. A lot of games these days constantly receive bug fixes and graphics updates that make it faster.

Go to Google Play Store (for Android) or App Store (for iPhone) and set up to be notified for updates. Install the updates as soon as you get them. You will thank us.

Clear Cache

A cache is a temporary data storage system on your phone. It is supposed to help you launch apps faster by retrieving data from your last usage. However, it takes up a lot of space, and clearing them can help your gaming apps work better. Here’s how to do it:

Android

You can clear cache from individual apps or use an external app. On your phone:

  1. Go to Settings, tap on Storage (for Android 9 and 10, you will find Storage in Device Care).
  2. Then tap Other Apps. You will find the list of apps on your phone.
  3. Tap on each app and then tap “clear cache”.

Your alternate option is to get one of the many cleaning apps from the Play Store, like 1Tap Cleaner or Cleaner Lite. These will let you clear multiple apps at the same time.

iPhone

You can either clear cache for individual apps through your phone or connect it to your Mac and use an external app to clean up. On your iPhone:

  1. Go to Settings and tap on Safari.
  2. Scroll down and tap “clear history and website data”.
  3. To confirm, tap “clear history and data”.
  4. Go back to Safari. Scroll down and tap Advanced.
  5. Tap on Website Data, and then tap “remove all website data”.
  6. To confirm, tap “remove now”.

There are multiple apps available in the App Store to clear unwanted data. You can use the PhoneClean app for this. Install PhoneClean on your Mac. Then follow these steps:

  1. Connect your iPhone to the Mac.
  2. Open the PhoneClean app and click “scan”.
  3. Once the scan is complete, click “clean”. This will clear all temporary files, cache, crash logs, etc.

Remove Distractions

An unwanted notification can hamper the progress you’ve made in the past whole hour. Not to mention, notifications during a game can be very annoying. Here are two essential things to do:

  1. Use your phone’s Do Not Disturb feature to block notifications. You can find the option on your notification panel if you drag down the whole thing. You can select which notifications you want – so unless it’s an emergency, turn them all off.
  2. Get this incredible app called Gaming Mode. It will automatically change your settings to give you a seamless experience. Once enabled, it will block all alerts, auto-reject phone calls, clear background apps, and more. The app can also alter the volume to a specific level when you launch a game. You can also choose which apps or games you want the app to work for. So when you turn on that specific game, Gaming Mode will activate itself.

Get an Optimizing App

Yes, there is an app for everything. You can find game optimizing apps that can boost your CPU and RAM performance while you are gaming. These tools are quite effective and can also enhance your graphics quality. These are designed to activate only when you’re gaming. Once you close your games, the phone will go back to its previous settings.

Game Booster is a popular choice for Android users. Apple gives you less options in this category but UU Game Booster and GameZpeed work pretty well. Samsung users can use the Game Launcher app that comes preinstalled. It can block alerts and optimize phone performance while gaming.

Bonus – Get a Third-party Controller

If what attracts you to gaming consoles is the use of physical controllers, you need not worry. You can also do that with your phone. Games like Fortnite can be a lot more fun with these accessories.

Android phones now support a variety of gaming controllers. You can connect them to your mobile via Bluetooth or a USB cable.

These are some of the most popular options for console controllers:

Finally

Devices like Galaxy S24 Ultra, OnePlus 12, and iPhone 15 Pro Max are designed for gaming (among other things). Your experience on their state-of-the-art software will undeniably be better than any other.

You can always get one of those if and when you buy a new phone. But for the current mobile you have, whatever it may be, these tips can work well. The small tweaks together make a big difference – once you try them, you will see for yourself.
