While standard Kindle DX comes with US EVDO support accessible via Sprint’s EVDO network in the US, Amazon Kindle DX with global wireless is equipped with the more globally available GSM/GPRS/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA, making Whispernet available in over 100 countries. In the US, Kindle DX with global wireless can access Whispernet only on AT&T network.

With Amazon Kindle DX with global wireless, you do not pay for wireless coverage as Amazon pays upfront. Hence there is no monthly wireless bill to worry about. All you pay for is the book you are downloading. Think of a book and you can have it delivered within minutes to your Amazon Kindle DX. Owners of Kindle DX with global wireless can also download Kindle ebooks wirelessly free outside their home country, except for US customers.

For U.S. customers traveling abroad, a $1.99 fee currently apply when downloading Kindle ebooks or single issues of periodicals wirelessly from your Archived Items or the Amazon Kindle store while traveling internationally.

Amazon Kindle DX e-book reader includes larger storage allowing you to store up to 3,500 books and a larger keyboard that is easier to use. The auto-rotating feature allows you view pages in landscape or portrait.
