How much does Nokia Navigation cost?
Nokia maps are available for free. You can download maps of over 200 countries free. To access Nokia Navigation service, you need a navigation license. Nokia now offers voice guided turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation license for free forever. That means you don’t pay for Nokia navigation license any more. Some great phones for Nokia maps and GPS Navigation service include Nokia 6710 Navigator, Nokia 6210 Navigator, and Nokia E71.
Nokia have also announced an affordable Navigation phone targeted at emerging markets, the Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition. Nokia 2710 Navigation Edition, when launched in the second quarter of 2010, will be the cheapest Nokia phone with the Navigation feature.
Note that not all 200 countries are navigable. Nigeria is navigable on Nokia maps. This means that visitors to Nigeria can now easily find their way around some Nigerian Cities with Nokia mobile phones. Nigerian cities currently covered include Lagos, Abuja, Kano, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Benin City, and Kaduna. According to Nokia, the maps cover 138,230km of Nigerian roads amounting to 72% of Nigerian roads.
In the past drive and walk navigation as well as traffic information service and city guides used to require navigation license. But starting from this year 2010, Nokia will be offering turn-by-turn voice guided navigation license and city gudes free forever. Ten Nokia phones now offer free Navigation, and by March all new Nokia phones with GPS will be pre-loaded with this feature.
Some Nokia phones that currently come with free lifetime navigation include Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 6730 classic, Nokia X6, Nokia 6710 Navigator, and so on. Note that lifetime free navigation lasts for the lifetime of the handset.

Which Nokia mobile phones can access the Navigation service?
Not all Nokia mobile phones support Nokia Ovi maps and Nokia navigation service. One guide to knowing whether your Nokia phone supports maps is to check whether it has built-in GPS or has Nokia maps preloaded. Most (if not all) Nokia mobile phones with GPS (or A-GPS) will support Nokia maps and navigation. However there are Nokia phones with no built-in GPS that can access Nokia maps. For such phones you will need to buy a compatible GPS module. The GPS module will communicate with your phone via Bluetooth. Nokia NSeries, Nokia ESeries, and some Nokia XpressMusic smartphones support Nokia maps and navigation.
Nokia phones like Nokia X6 and Nokia N97 mini come with free lifetime voice-guided turn-by-turn drive and walk navigation and all Nokia phones with built-in GPS will also offer free navigation.
