Toyota RAV4 is a high performance compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV). RAV4 is up there with Honda CR-V in the compact SUV segment of the auto market. RAV4 comes in three models namely Base, Sport and Limited. Toyota RAV4 is available as front wheel drive (2WD) or four-wheel drive (4WD).
Toyota RAV4 is powered by a 2.4 litre 16-valve Variable Valve Timing-intelligence (VVT-i) four-cylinder engine providing 166 hp at 6000 rpm. If you crave for more power, Toyota RAV4 also have an option of a 3.5 litre 24-valve Dual VVT-i V6, which can provide 269 hp at 6200 rpm. The four-cylinder engine Toyota RAV4 is mated with a 4-speed automatic transmission system, while the V6 engine is equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission system.
All Toyota RAV4 models are equipped with four-wheel anti-lock braking system (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD), Vehicle stability control (VSC) with traction control and brake assist.
For driver safety, all Toyota RAV4 models are fitted with driver advanced airbag system, 3-point seatbelt and driver side airbag. Passengers are also protected with front passenger advanced airbag system, front passenger side airbags, roll sensing side curtain airbags and three-point seatbelt for all passengers.
Toyota RAV4 base and sport comes with CD/mp3/wma player with six speakers, and AM/FM radio. RAV4 Limited adds a 6-disc CD changer and satellite radio. Optional for Toyota RAV4 sport and Limited is Bluetooth handsfree and nine speakers.
Toyota RAV4 is not fairing badly in fuel economy achieving 19 miles per gallon (mpg) city for V6 (2WD/4WD) and 21 mpg/20 mpg city respectively for 4-cylinder (2WD/4WD). For highway rides, Toyota RAV4 consumes between 25 mpg and 27 mpg depending on engine (4-cylinder/V6) or configuration (2WD/4WD).
